Edmund "Mark" Vandermissen
Edmund “Mark” Vandermissen Jr., 81, of Luxemburg, passed away on Jan. 13, 2025, at Door County Medical Center. He was born Oct. 15, 1943, in Door County to Edmund and Louise (DuBois) Vandermissen. On Oct. 24, 1964, he married Shirley Quam at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay. Mark graduated from Brussels High School and then farmed in Southern Door County for many years. He also worked at Van’s Lumber and Cabinet Creations for over 30 years. Mark loved bowling, playing cards and hunting. He and Shirley enjoyed many trips to Branson, MO. Mark especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife Shirley, two children, Philip (Ann) Vandermissen and Sherry (John) Lau, all of Sturgeon Bay; 3 grandchildren, Morgan (Michael) Routhieaux, Medford, WI; Brandon Umentem (Alia Drexler), Sturgeon Bay; and Joseph Vandermissen, Sturgeon Bay; 2 step-granddaughters, Courtney (Giovanni) Sommers, Fairbanks, AK; Chelsea Lau, Charlotte, NC; 1 great- grandson, Miles Routhieaux; 2 step great grandchildren, Dominic and Iris Sommers; sisters-in-law, Judy Quam, Marianne Quam, and Carlye Quam; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, 2 sisters, Lillian (Herman) Delfosse, Lorna (Carroll) Bailey, 5 brothers-in-law, Sylvester Quam, Charles (Beverly) Quam, Donald Quam, Carlton Quam, Roger Quam; and son-in-law Gregg Umentum. A memorial service will be conducted at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay on January 17, 2025, at 11:00 am with Rev. Joel Sauer officiating. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of service. Forbes Funeral Home is assisting the family.
