James "Jim" Lutzen
James M. Lutzen James “Jim” Michael Lutzen, 88, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on January 26, 2025, at the Jack and Engrid Meng Hospice Facility in De Pere. He was born on October 22, 1936, to Peter and Mabel (Hazel) Lutzen. On June 15, 1957, he married Carol Weber in Menomonee. Jim worked for Kewaunee Engineering for 35 years, where he also served as union president for 25 of those years. He enjoyed watching wildlife, fishing, camping, and gardening. Jim was a “Jack of all trades” who could fix anything. He was a very skilled man who also enjoyed sharing and teaching his skills to family and friends. Jim had a natural ear for music and was a self-taught musician. He loved country music and played guitar and steel guitar in a band for a number of years. Jim especially loved spending time with his family. He was a great husband, father, and grandfather and will be deeply missed. Survivors include two children, Debbie (Dean) LaRose, Two Rivers; Lenore (Jon) Knapmiller, Sturgeon Bay; two grandchildren, Shari (Craig) Asher, Luxemburg; Nicole (Eric) Kawski, Appleton; four great-grandchildren, Jack, Kensi, Noah, and Brinn; a brother, Leo Lutzen, Boyceville, WI; in-laws, Marvin Weber, Florissant, MO; Corine and Walter Roberts, Miltona, MN; Cleo Weber, Ridgeland, WI; Bob Christopherson, Ridgeland, WI. He was preceded by his parents, wife, one brother, Lawrence (Eileen) Lutzen, in-laws, Jean Lutzen, Lowell Weber, Sally (Curt) Curtis, Joan Weber, and Joanie Christopherson. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay, WI. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum.
