Joan had a very loving nature and a way with children and was affectionately known by everyone as Nana, both family and friends. In her retirement, she enjoyed classes at the YMCA and spending time at the Sunflower Cottage. Survivors include her husband Richard “Dick”; 5 children, Cindy (Tom) Lardinois, Terry (Dave) Williams, Sherry (Lester) Schultz, Mike (Connie) Baudhuin, and Kate (Steve) Laubenstein; 10 grandchildren, Melissa (Jeremy) Saunders, Jason (Amy) Lardinois, Nicholas (Tiffany) Schultz, Brigette (Zach) Joyce, Erin (Jake) Hackbart, Cora Baudhuin (friend Derek Steck), Drew (Amanda) Laubenstein, Sam (Jorge) Ramirez, and Mandy (Shane) Wautier; 13 great-grandchildren. Bill Brunner and Rev. Anthony Birdsall concelebrating. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of services. Forbes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Special thanks to the staff and volunteers at Sunflower Cottage, Pete and Jelaine Horton Center, and Dr. Reitz for the wonderful care and support. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Sunflower Cottage, the Pete and Jelaine Horton Center, and the Door County YMCA.
