Scott L. Vlies

Scott L. Vlies of Algoma, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at the age of 70. He was born in Algoma on December 18, 1954, to the late Clifford A. and Juanita R. (Culp) Vlies. He was a graduate of Algoma High School, class of 1973. He married his high school sweetheart, Vicki Starr, on August 27, 1977, at St. Paul’s Church in Algoma. He worked at Algoma Hardwoods for 39 years. Scott was known for helping anyone who needed it. He had a passion for classic cars and motorcycles. He enjoyed traveling the United States with good friends Jim and Teri Graf, fishing, riding E-Bikes, going to the gym, gardening, watching and attending Packer and Brewer games. He especially loved watching his granddaughters grow. Scott is survived by his wife, Vicki; their children, Jamie (Aric) Schmiling, Robin (Jason Muench) and Terri Vlies; grandchildren, Karina and Ava Schmiling and Indra Roel; brother, Kendall (Kris) Vlies; sisters, Vicki Vlies and Jane (Scott) Van Laanen; sister-in-law, Lynn Vlies; in-laws, Diane (John) Cmeyla, Dale (Susie) Starr and Dean Starr; many nieces and nephews; and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Juanita Vlies; brother, Robert “Bob” Vlies; grandparents, Fred and Lucy Vlies and Walter and Lodean Culp; father and mother-in-law, Victor and Ione Starr; nephew, Christopher Cmeyla. A visitation will take place Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from 9:00 am-11:30 am at the Green Bay Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1414 Shawano Ave., Green Bay. Funeral Service will take place at 11:30 am with Pastor Kevin Moreno officiating. Burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Algoma. Special thank you to Kathy and Amy and anyone else who assisted Scott at Kewaunee Health & Fitness, Kewaunee Rescue, Aurora BayCare Medical Center doctors, nurses, and staff. In lieu of flowers memorial funds will be established in Scott’s name. Kinnard Funeral & Cremation Services - Algoma is assisting the family. Online condolences can be shared at KinnardFCS.com.
