Russell Allan Nielsen, 83, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away at home on June 8, 2025, following complications from a stroke in November of 2024. He was born January 26, 1942, in Racine, WI to Allan and Nora (Mitchell) Nielsen. Russ served in the Marines from 1960 to 1967. He was a thirty-year member of the Racine Fire Department and was a proud first responder. He was currently a member of the Bay Christian Fellowship in Sturgeon Bay. Russ enjoyed golf and bowling. He was an avid sports fan, cheering loudly for the Brewers, Bucks, and Packers and enjoyed watching Marquette and Badger basketball on TV. He is survived by his sister Marilyn (Melvin) Schrubbe, brother James Nielsen, and nephew Michael Schrubbe all of Racine, WI, and special friend Linda Willis of Sturgeon Bay. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends and family are invited to Forbes Funeral Home for a visitation starting at 10:00 am with a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 21st, 2025, with Rev. Mark Englebert officiating.
