Clifford J. Abts

Clifford J. Abts, 97, of Champion, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, June 13, 2025. He was born on August 1, 1927, to the late Theodore Sr. and Mamie T. (Mohimont) Abts in Champion, Wisconsin. Clifford lived his 97 years to the fullest and will be missed for the cherished memories he shared from “the good old days.” He was passionate about farming, working in his garden, cooking, playing harmonica, and playing cards with family and friends. Clifford and Calvin (brothers) were the founders and co-owners of Abts Boumatic. He was proud of his Belgian heritage and was featured in the book The Walloons in Wisconsin. Clifford taught us about life through his example of faith, family, and his work ethic. On July 14, 1962, Clifford and Margaret (Wachal) were united in marriage at St. Mary Church in Luxemburg. He leaves behind his wife Marge of 62 years, along with their three children: Anita (Dave) Kinnard, Ron (Michele) Abts, Paul (fiancée Kelly Demers) Abts; seven grandchildren, Katie (Steven) Agamaite, Brian (Caitlin) Kinnard, Renee (Caleb) Lenss, Sarah (Nick) Caelwaerts, Annie (Austen) Dart, Derek (Alexis Tingley) Abts, Ashley (Devin Czerneski) Abts; twelve great-grandchildren, Abby, Charli, Henry Harvey, Liam, Grant, Blaire, Ava, Molly, Madi, Sophie and Lexi. Also surviving are two sisters, Agatha (Donald) Pigeon, Agnes (Norris) Servais; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Dennis) Thiry, Leonard (Joann Romuald) Wachal, Judy Kerscher, and Marlene Delwiche.; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: Theodore and Mamie Abts Sr., Mabel (Henry) Delwiche, Florence (Steven) Gadamus, Dorothy Abts, Lily (Martin) Heim, Robert (Florence) Abts, Russell Abts, Loretta (Vernon) Wautlet, Calvin (Joyce) Abts, Theodore Abts Jr., Milton Delwiche, and Matt & Marie Wachal and Gary Thiry. Family and friends may gather from 3:00 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at St. Joseph Church, Champion. Closing parish prayer service at 6:30 p.m. with Deacon Robert Miller leading. Visitation will continue between 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at St. Joseph Church, Champion. Funeral on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Rev. Patrick Beno officiating. Entombment in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum, Green Bay.
