Wesley Dworakowski

Wesley Dworakowski, age 74 of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Door County Medical Center with his wife by his side. He was born to the late Stanley and Janina (Gierek) Dworakowski on September 1, 1950, in Wroclaw, Poland. On April 12, 1971, Wesley was united in marriage to Elizabeth Wieclawska in Warsaw, Poland, and they remained married for over 54 years until his passing. Wesley emigrated with his wife and children from Poland in 1982, settling in and making a new life in Chicago. He worked in numerous automotive body repair facilities, working his way up from an auto body combo technician to shop manager. Eventually Wesley established his own business, which he successfully built from the ground up. He prided himself on hard, honest work, customer service, and a detail-oriented product he could deliver without hesitation. He carried on this enterprise for almost a decade, at which time, he sold the business and moved on to managing automotive body repair shops until his professional retirement. Along the journey, Wesley made countless friends, both professionally and personally, many of these relationships spanning decades into today. He always found time and energy to help others in all walks of life, placing their interests before himself. Wesley's life passion outside of work was fishing, which ran in tandem with boating. Many family vacations were really fishing destination trips in disguise. Wesley could fish from sunup to sundown, always netting a catch, when other anglers failed. He was truly in his element on the water. Wesley will be immensely missed by his entire family. He was a loving husband, a great father, and a greater grandfather. He leaves his family with many cherished memories, which are already helping them all get through this difficult time. His memory will live on through his children and grandchildren, and the life lessons he instilled in them. Wesley is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth; children, Christopher (Renata) Dworakowski and Magdalena Goncerzewicz; grandchildren, Nicole, Anna, Michael, Alexander, David; and brother, Peter (Lydia) Dworakowski. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Janina. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 6 p.m. at Huehns Funeral Home - 1414 Michigan Street, Sturgeon Bay, with Fr. Anthony Bridsall officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5 p.m. until the time of service. An additional memorial gathering will be held in Chicago on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Skaja Funeral Home - 7812 N Milwaukee Ave, Niles, IL 60714. A Funeral Mass held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at St Juliana Parish Church -7201 N Oketo Ave, Chicago, IL 60631, with Father Zdzislaw Torba officiating. There will be a private family inurnment held in Sturgeon Bay.
