Gerald Nellis

Gerald John Julian Nellis 95, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, at Pine Crest Village. He was born on March 22, 1930, in Brussels to Goldie and Rosemond Nellis. On May 26, 1951, he married Janet Mary Beirl in Luxemburg. She preceded him in death on July 21, 2015. Together Gerald and Janet owned and operated The Door County Dairy in Little Sturgeon for nine years before moving to De Pere owning and operating Eiler's Cheese factory. He was a cheese maker for 50 years. Gerald enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cheering on the Packers. He especially enjoyed spending time and watching the sunsets at the house he designed on the shore property in Brussels. Survivors include 4 children, Jane (Dave) Pasterski, IA; Kay Nellis Skoronski, TX; James Nellis, Sturgeon Bay; Debra (Steve Buechler) Nellis, Seymour, WI; 3 grandchildren, Jed Pasterski, Jill (James) Brackett, and Scott Nellis; 6 great-grandchildren, Austin, Chase, Joy, Jana, Juliet, and Jesse; one sister, Bertha Stoeller, Algoma; 1 sister-in-law, Patty Nellis. He was preceded by his parents; wife; 1 daughter, Terry Nellis; 1 brother, Patrick Nellis, 3 sisters, Rita Columb, Carolyn Conrad, and Geraldine (Leo) Shebasta; 1 brother-in-law, Frank Stoeller. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2025, at St. Francis & St. Mary’s Parish in Brussels with Rev. Rex Palaya officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Friday. Entombment will be at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Forbes Funeral Home is assisting the family. In-lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Francis & St. Mary’s Parish.
