Joanne Kintopf

Joanne Kintopf, 91, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on Oct. 8, 2025. She was born Oct. 17, 1933, in Carlsville to John and Dora (Wolske) Schmidtke. On May 26, 1956, she married John Kintopf at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Valmy. He preceded her in death on July 13, 2011. Joanne worked as a nurse at Door County Memorial Hospital for many years. She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, cross stitching, vegetable gardening and canning. She was a longtime and active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay. Survivors include 4 children, Elaine (Paul) Anderson, Oshkosh; Lois Anderson, Neenah; Roland (Kathy) Kintopf, Algoma; and Brad Kintopf, Sturgeon Bay; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Larry (Ann) Schmidtke, Green Bay; brother-in-law, Alan (Linda) Kintopf, Sturgeon Bay; sisters-in-law, June Krauel, Sturgeon Bay, Jane (Fritz) Sperber, Sturgeon Bay, Janice Schmidtke, Sheboygan Barb Kintopf, Two Rivers, and Louise Kintopf, Algoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, John; son-in-law, Steve Anderson; four brothers, Gerry (Rosie) Schmidtke; Norman Schmidtke, Kenny (Janice) Schmidtke, Ron (Marlene) Schmidtke; in-laws, Jim (Dorothy) Kintopf, Milton Kintopf, Albert (Shirley) Kintopf, Norbert Kintopf, and Karl Krauel. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay with the Rev. Joel Sauer officiating. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 am until the time of service. Forbes Funeral Home is serving the family.
