Hope Blueberry

Hope Blueberry, of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, passed away far too soon on October 11, 2025. Hope was born April 15, 1985, in Evanston, Illinois to her mother, Lucy Blueberry. During Hope’s earliest years, she lived with her mother and her grandparents, Joseph Leo Sr. and Patricia Bernier, which forged a lifelong, special bond with her granny and papa. Growing up, Hope also enjoyed abundant time with her Uncle Joe, Aunt Carol, and her cousins Nikki, Clark, and Brandon. Hope came of age surrounded and loved by many people from all walks of life and cultures, and formed a strong sense of community that influenced her outlook and zest for travel and adventure. She cultivated communities working at sea, teaching and learning in yoga studios, training dogs and their people, and most importantly, loving cherished friends and family. Hope’s focus and joy was her life with her husband, Mike and their little boys Bernard (“Bun”) and William (“Bill”). Hope and Mike married October 1, 2016, on Mike’s home farm. They set off on myriad adventures building their family and communities centered on Bun and Bill. Hope was a Montessori-focused momma with infinite ideas, patience, and sweetness raising her children. All instances of life with her boys were prepared in a way that invited their full participation, fostering their natural curiosities and abilities. Hope was one of a kind, sharing her quick wit and kind soul with all. She led a life of deep reflection that informed how showed up in the world. Hope is survived by her mother Lucy Blueberry; her husband Dr. Michael Brenner; sons Bernard and William; Uncle Joseph L. Bernier Jr., Aunt Carol (Clark) Bernier; Aunt Therese Ann (Donovan) Bernier; cousins Clark J. Bernier, Nikki Bernier Brosh (Steve), Michelle (Kras) Bernier, Shawn Bernier (Ruben Estrada), and Christina (Bernier) Verdeyem (Kenneth); brother-in-law William Brenner (Stacie); sister-in-law Marci Glaus (Tim); brother-in-law Thomas Brenner (Santana); mother-in-law Nancy Brenner; father-in-law Gary Brenner (Marie Hillig); and seven nieces and three nephews. Hope is preceded in death by her Papa Joseph Leo Bernier Sr.; Grandmother Patricia (Novak) Bernier; Uncle Barry L. Bernier; and cousin, Brandon T. Bernier. A wake will be held at Forbes Funeral Home (319 W. Spruce St. Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235) Friday, October 17 from 3:00 – 5:30 p.m. with time for friends and family to share their memories, thoughts, or stories about Hope starting at 5:00. Following the wake, family and friends are invited to Mike and Hope’s house and barn to be in community (1726 Michigan St. Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235).
