Donald M. Spude
Donald M. Spude, 88, of the Town of Union, passed away at his home on November 21, 2025. He was born September 18, 1937, to Louis and Martha (Grovogel) Spude. He married Angela Engebose on August 27, 1960, at St. Francis Church in Duval. Don earned his GED at NWTC in Green Bay and then went on to study police science. During his life, he had a variety of occupations. He started work as a cheese maker at Duval, later drove milk truck, and then got into the carpentry business. Don worked as a carpenter for DeKeyser Builders and later established his own carpentry business. For a number of years, Don also worked for Peterson Builders until transitioning into law enforcement work, where he served as a deputy for the Door County Sheriff’s Department. Don had a great love of the outdoors treasuring any time spent in the woods. He was also a talented carpenter and wood worker always loving the fragrance of freshly “cut” wood. When his daughters were young, he enjoyed following and attending all their extracurricular activities. Don was also a long time and active member of the Southeran Door Booster Club and was the founder and organizer of the SDABC Arts and Craft Show. Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Kathy (Dale) Diedrick, Becky (Gary) Kolstad, Sherrie (John) Cram, Tina (Brian) Renard, and Colleen (Jody) Rass; 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; a sister Janet Bouche; sister-in-law Diane Spude; other in-laws, Milton and Sharon Engebose, Patsy and Lloyd Everard, Nancy Hawkins and Brenda (Kiko) Torres. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Devon Anderson, many brothers, sisters, and in-laws. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2025, at St. Francis and St. Mary Parish in Brussels. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2025, from 3:00 – 7:00 pm. A prayer service is scheduled for 7:00 pm that evening. Visitation will also be held at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Special thanks to Unity Hospice for the wonderful care and support.
