Judy Ellenbecker
Judith "Judy" Ellenbecker, of Sturgeon Bay, was called home to the Lord on 16 December 2025, at the age of 82. Judy was born in Sturgeon Bay in 1943, to the late Joseph and Carol Nelson. A lifelong and devout Catholic, she was a faithful parishioner of Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church. Her unwavering faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing her with strength and solace. In 1963, Judy was united in holy matrimony with the love of her life, John Ellenbecker. Together, they built a life centered on faith and family. A lifelong resident of Sturgeon Bay, Judy was a familiar and welcoming face to many as a longtime librarian at the Door County Library. She cherished her community and the many friendships she cultivated over the years. Her greatest passion and source of joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a doting grandmother who always put her family first. She leaves behind her beloved husband, John; her sons, Michael (Karen) and their son, Matthew; Joseph (Lilly) and their children, Katie (Andrew), Hannah, and Emma; and Andrew (Jennifer) and their children, Brooklyn, Madison, and Kendall. She is now reunited in Heaven with her son, David Ellenbecker and sister, Susan Baugniet, who preceded her in death. Judy found immense pleasure in the simple gifts of life. She loved the warmth of hot summer days, a welcome contrast to the cold Wisconsin winters she was never fond of. A lifelong reader, she could often be found with a mystery or suspense novel in hand. Her heart was fullest during the holidays, gathered around the kitchen table, playing board games and creating cherished memories with her family. After a long illness, Judy is now resting peacefully with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her gentle spirit, warm heart, and enduring love will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her. There will be a private celebration of her life in the near future. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Forbes Funeral Home is serving the family.
