Richard "Rick" S. Vlies

Richard “Rick” Vlies, 69, Casco, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2026.

He was born in Green Bay on February 25, 1956, to the late Norman “Moose” and Dorothy (Bonville) Vlies. He married Wendy Englebert on May 25, 1975, at St. Francis Xavier in Brussels. Rick was a racecar driver in his younger years. He enjoyed fishing and feeding the birds. He took great pride in the many trees he planted at home. Rick loved his pets, Oscar, a cocker spaniel and the two cats, Elvis and Luna, who were his constant companions.

Most important to Rick were his grandchildren. He loved watching them grow up, and he always needed to hear what was going on in their lives. They looked forward to the ice cream sandwiches he brought on every visit.

Rick is survived by the love of his life of 50 years, Wendy; daughter Trina (Lane) Trimberger of Luxemburg; grandchildren, Cassidey Trimberger, Cadence Trimberger, Mason Trimberger, Taitum Vlies, Edward Vlies, Charlette Vlies; brothers, Randy (Sandy) Vlies, Casco, Russell (Barb) Vlies, Casco; sisters, Roxanne (Paul) Moede, Luxemburg, Rene (Vince) Velchek, Casco; God Children Candy Lohrey and Bobbie Nuthals; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Lance Vlies; brothers, Douglas, Darrell, Reggie, and Rod Vlies; father-in-law and mother-in-law Edward and Viola Englebert; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Noretta (Dan) Kaye, Clarice (Ervin) Cornette; many aunts, uncles, relatives, and friends.

A visitation will take place at St. Peter Church, Lincoln, on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Edward Looney officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery in Spring.
