Leslie H. Lautenbach, 81, of Egg Harbor, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on July 5, 1944, in Egg Harbor, Door County, Leslie lived a full life rooted deeply in love, hard work, and devotion to those closest to him. For 51 wonderful years, Les shared his life with his beloved wife, Jeanette. Together they built a family grounded in love, laughter, and loyalty.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Lautenbach and Ethel Paschke; brother Artie (Pat), sister Mary Jane (George). He is survived by his devoted wife Jeanette; their sons, Brad (Nancy Moses), and Robbie (Allie); and their daughter, Debbie (Dave); sister Delores (Chan), and brother Wayne (Dianne).
To his family, he will forever be remembered as “Papa” ~ a provider, mentor, and constant presence whose love never wavered. “Papa” found joy in life’s quiet yet meaningful moments — working in his woods, splitting firewood, and tinkering with cars and tractors until they gleamed with life once more. His dedication and craftsmanship were matched only by his generosity and love of family, values he lived every day and passed along to his children.
Leslie is survived by his beloved wife, 3 children, and grandchildren Kaylah, Trevor, Trenton (Bella), Alex, Ashley, Kalissa, Hailee, Delilah, and Harper. Great grandchildren Avery and Sabrina. Many nieces, nephews and cousins. Lastly, to papa’s beloved hound dog Scooby and the late K-9, Buckie.
Les proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army before returning home and put his skills and dedication into building not just houses, but dreams for countless families in his community.
A longtime member of the St. Joseph’s Church in Sturgeon Bay, Leslie lived his faith quietly but deeply, finding peace in a service, community, and the simple beauty of everyday life.
In remembrance of Leslie, his family wishes to share the comforting words of Psalm 23: * “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” * Though he will be deeply missed, his strength, kindness, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.
“Our entire family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to all the staff with Unity Hospice for your tremendous compassion and wonderful care you provided for Papa”
