Clarence J. Marit

Clarence John Marit, 91 years, of Algoma died Friday morning (February 27, 2026) at Eden Brooke Nursing Center in Green Bay.

He was born October 12, 1934 in Rio Creek the son of the late Clarence and Julia (Schaefer) Marit. He graduated from Casco High School. Soon after graduation, Clarence worked at Ropson Motors in Algoma before heading to the ship building yards at Christi Corp in Sturgeon Bay, Manitowoc Corp., and Kewaunee Engineering. On October 20, 1955 he married Rose Marie Paral at Holy Trinity Catholic Church . They were married for 71 years.

Clarence had a love of restoring antique tractors especially FORD tractors. He was a talented mechanic, and restoration artist who was featured in Wisconsin Magazine. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Algoma, the Algoma Lions Club, and the Knights of Columbus.

Surviving family includes his wife, Rose Marie of Algoma; son, John of New London; daughter, Mary Jo (Brian) Bloom of Iola; grandchildren, Justin Haack, Karen (Mark) Kudick (children, Cameron Rombaugh, Carson Rombaugh and Macy Kudick), Hillary (Adam) Schellinger (and their children, Lauren and Claire Schellinger); Courtney (Will) Depaz; and his two sisters, Julie and Jackie. Preceding him in death were his parents, Clarence and Julia Marit; two children, Leo Marit and Debra Laurent; four siblings, Carol, Delores, Donny, and Mike .

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday March 4, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Timothy Machila officiating. Burial will made at St. Mary's Cemetery.
