James Iverson

James (Jim) Richard Iverson, age 85, of New Berlin, WI passed away Tuesday March 3, 2026, at Linden Grove, New Berlin.

Jim was born to Oiven and Mary (Finney) Iverson in Durand, WI June 10, 1940. In 1958, he graduated from Pius High School. He then attended collage at St. Norberts, Milton, and the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. His marriage to Jo Ann (Mickelson) Iverson began on September 30, 1967.

After 58+ years of marriage he is survived by his wife Jo Ann, his son Jeffrey (Carrie) of Muskego, and daughter Julie Dkstra of Waukesha. Jeff’s sons Kyle and Drew and Julie’s children Tyler and Megan are great representations of Jim. He is also survived by his brother Jack (Mary) Iverson, his sister Jane (Bob) Johannes and two brothers-in-law Bradley and Larry Mickelson. He will be missed by cousins, nieces and a nephew.

While in high school, and after, he was a drummer with various bands in the Milwaukee area. Piano lessons were a part of his life through college. He loved fifties music, boogie, marches and religious music. Boogie was his go to for relaxation, improvising as he played. He also was president of the D.C. Everest Band Boosters.

Sports were essential to him. While in basic training at Fort Leonard Wood he played baseball for the Army, traveling to other bases for games. He was coach for his kid’s football and baseball teams. And of course, the Brewers, Packers and Badgers were important to him. Jim worked in sales all his life. He sold cash registers, insurance, automobiles and food. He helped with the opening of the first Pick N Save store on Bluemound Rd. in Milwaukee. Jim and Jo then moved to Schofield, WI where they lived for over 37 years. In 1999, they bought a cottage in Sturgeon Bay (Jo’s birthplace) where they always had wonderful times with family and friends.

The family thanks his caregivers for enriching his life. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay with the funeral service to be conducted at noon. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Sturgeon Bay.
