Annette Lois Allen, 90, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away at Door County Medical Center in the loving arms of her family, Saturday afternoon, March 28, 2026.
She was born February 25,1936 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Carl Bernard Anderson and Clara Veneta (Bertschinger) Anderson. Annette grew up attending Sturgeon Bay United Methodist Church. She graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1954. Annette was united in marriage to James (Jim) Eugene Allen on February 4,1956, at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay. She was a parishioner of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, where she was a lifelong member.
Annette became a dedicated wife to Jim, a USCG Seaman Recruit, and mother to their four children. Annette (CEO of the household) and a proud military wife, journeyed alongside her husband through many postings, carrying her sense of home wherever they were called. She was also employed by the Wisconsin Telephone Company and Illinois Bell as a Switchboard operator. She was also a member of the Algoma and Sturgeon Bay Homemakers Club.
Together with Annette, Jim enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends and family alike. Annette and Jim were blessed with over 57 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on March 23, 2015. Annette loved her family and cherished the time she spent with them, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren that she and Jim were blessed with over the years.
Her love will live on in the hearts of her children, John of Sturgeon Bay, Anna (Dennis) Sullivan of Beltsville, MD, Carl of Fall River, WI, and in the cherished memory of Steve (Woody) who preceded her in death; six grandchildren; Bryan Allen, Kenneth Allen, Daniel, Brendan and Molly Sullivan and in the cherished memory of Christopher Allen preceded her in death; seven great-grandchildren, Madison and Jack Allen, Bodhi, Aspen and Luca Allen, Seamus and Leona Sullivan; one sister, Karen Miller of Sturgeon Bay, nieces, nephews, and other relatives friends. Annette was preceded in death by her parents; son, Steven (Woody) Allen; sister, Doris Stoeger; grandson, Christopher (CJ) Allen; brothers-in-law, Floyd Miller and Ed Stoeger and other relatives.
A funeral service for family and friends will be held at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. The visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed in her memory for Corpus Christi Church and the Fr. Birdsall memorial prayer garden.
