Ralph D. Taylor

Ralph David Taylor, age 94, passed away on April 20, 2026 at Door County Medical Center in Sturgeon Bay.

He was born on June 28, 1931 to Paul and Faye (Sutton) Taylor in Acworth, IA. Ralph attended Indianola High School, where he excelled in drafting and woodworking. After graduating in 1949, Ralph attended Iowa State University where he majored in Agricultural Science and participated in the ROTC program. Following college, Ralph entered military service as a member of the US Air Force where he attained the rank of First Lieutenant and performed air traffic control duties while stationed in Goose Bay, Labrador.

On August 26, 1957, Ralph married Georgeen M. Taylor in Indianola, IA. A few years later, the couple relocated to Waukesha, WI where they had three of their four children: David, Carol and Steven. A fourth child, Timothy, was born after the family relocated to Sun Prairie, WI. Ralph was a loyal husband and a dedicated family man.

He was a skilled draftsman and carpenter and used those talents to design and coordinate the construction of four houses, the first two located in Sun Prairie, the third located in Fish Creek and the fourth located in Sturgeon Bay. Ralph was also an excellent accountant and was employed by the State of Wisconsin as Director of the Bureau of Local Financial Assistance, a position he held for over two decades.

After Georgeen retired in 1991 and Ralph retired in 1992, they relocated to Door County with daughter Carol where they lived for several years in Fish Creek before moving to their final home in Sturgeon Bay.

Survivors include his son David and his wife Carolyn, daughter Carol, son Steven, son Timothy and his wife Cassandra, grandson Cameron, granddaughter Alexandra and her husband Patrick, great granddaughter Charlotte and great grandson Jack. Ralph was preceded in death by his wife Georgeen, his parents Paul and Faye and his two brothers Frank and Jerry.

A private Celebration of Life memorial service for immediate family members only will be held at a future date.
