Thomas P. “Owl” Swagel, 68, Kewaunee, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2026.
He was born in Green Bay on January 14, 1958, to the late John A. and Frances (Seidl) Swagel. He married Mary Wavrunek on July 1, 2000, at St. Therese Parish, Pilsen. Tom worked the Hamachek Company and later at Vollrath.
Tom was an avid fan of all Wisconsin sports teams. He watched every Milwaukee Brewer game and could recall Green Bay Packer statistics going back to the first Super Bowl. He also enjoyed peaceful walks in the woods with his two dogs Cleo and Sophie.
He is survived by wife, Mary Swagel; their children Maggie (fiancé Kyle Goke) Swagel, Mitchell (Rubi Rodriguez-Lopez) Swagel; stepdaughter Kristin (Michael Schott) Wavrunek; step grandchildren Evan and Bella Romero; sister Carol (John) Mertens, Kewaunee; brothers-in-law Daniel (Debbie) Wavrunek, Kewaunee, David Wavrunek, Luxemburg, James (Josy) Wavrunek, Denmark; sisters-in-law Janet (Noah) Spitzer, Jackson, WI, Catherine Wavrunek, Green Bay, Jean Wavrunek, Denmark, Christal Wavrunek, Tisch Mills. Tom was preceded in death by his parents; brother John R. Swagel; brothers-in-law Joseph Wavrunek and Deacon Robert Wavrunek; father-in-law and mother-in-law Sylvester and Dorothy Wavrunek.
A visitation will take place Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at St. Therese Parish, St. Joseph Site, Pilsen. Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Dennis Drury officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.
