Sharon L. Kellner

Sharon Laverne Kellner, 80, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on April 23, 2026, at Bayview Senior Care after a years long battle with Alzheimer's.

She was born March 4, 1946, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, to Emil and Mildred (Jepson) Fictum. Sharon attended Sturgeon Bay High School (graduating class of 1964), where she met the love of her life, John Kellner. On April 24, 1965, she and John married at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay. They spent the rest of their lives together growing in love for each other, their families, and their faith.

Sharon was a beacon of positivity and encouragement, radiating love and support to all those blessed to know her. She was able to find the good in every person she met and lived her life in the belief that every soul is equal and deserving of kindness, respect, and compassion. Her unique mix of humor and sweetness will be sorely missed by all.

Sharon and John spent many years sharing their love of Door County with visitors to the area, first managing the Holiday Motel in Sturgeon Bay for her in-laws in the 60's, and later as the owners of the Twin Oaks Lodge in Fish Creek from 1982-1994. She enjoyed sharing her favorite spots for shopping, dining, arts, and nature with people from all over the world, and loved partaking in a cup of coffee in the early mornings with their guests.

Sharon also dedicated much of her life to civic service, serving as the Clerk/Treasurer for Town of Gibraltar until she retired in 2012. During their retirement years, Sharon and John moved to Sheboygan, Wisconsin, to spend as much time as possible with their grandchildren.

Sharon is survived by her son, Todd (Robin Hansen) Kellner of Peshtigo; daughter, Sara (Ben Anschutz) Kellner of Sheboygan and Baileys Harbor; grandchildren, Gabe Butler, Nolan Thiel, and Madilyn Thiel; sister, Jeanne Moreno; and many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, as well as her sisters, Susan Ricco and Janet Gaethke; and brothers, James Longley and Gary Fictum.

Sharon's life will be honored with a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial held at on Monday, May 11th at 11 am at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Maplewood, with Fr. William Brunner officiating. Cookies and coffee will be available after the mass for a gathering of family and friends. She and John will be laid to rest in a private service in Blossomberg Cemetery in Peninsula State Park at a later date.
