Donn E. Werkheiser

Donn E. Werkheiser, 76, passed from this life into the next on April 4, 2026.

Donn, the son of Arthur and Milda (Schulze) Werkeiser, was born on May 2, 1949 in Sturgeon Bay. He was a happy child despite the physical challenges he faced. He loved music, playing cards, laughing, and being outdoors. Over the years, he learned to make wooden cars and many other things with the help of his devoted mother, Milda. When Donn got that certain twinkle in his eye, you knew that a joke or some other form of silliness was not far behind.

Later in life, Donn spent his days (and many happy years) at Sunshine House Inc. He loved being with people, having a purpose through his work and earning a paycheck. He was instrumental in creating jigs and other assistive devices to help him become very adept at his jobs.

Donn leaves behind his brother, Lynn Werkheiser of Sturgeon Bay; sister, Myrna Peil of Oconto; and nieces and nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and an infant sister, Linda Lou.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

“For all of you who have been a part of Donn’s life, his family appreciates you more than you know. Your help, care, and compassion frequently put a smile on his face, and that impact made his life infinitely better.”

Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay is assisting the Werkheiser family during this time. Expressions of sympathy, memories, and photos of Donn may be shared with his family at wwwHuehnsFuneralHome.com.
