Margaret M. Abts

Margaret “Marge” M. Abts, 86, of Champion, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday June 27, 2026. She was born on February 3, 1940, to Matt & Marie (Treml) Wachal in Luxemburg, Wisconsin. Marge was a woman of deep faith whose life was rooted in service to others. The Shrine of Our Lady of Champion held a special place in Marge's heart, where she faithfully volunteered for ten years. Marge was a dedicated employee of the Luxemburg Medical Clinic, serving the community for 50 years. Throughout her remarkable career, she cherished the friendships she built with her coworkers, who became like family, and found great fulfillment in caring for the countless patients whose lives she touched. Her legacy of kindness, compassion, and unwavering dedication will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Beyond her work and volunteer service, Marge found joy in quilting with the ladies of St. Joseph Parish, tending her garden, preparing meals for those she loved, and playing cards with family and friends. Through her unwavering faith, devotion to family, and strong work ethic, Marge led by example. She taught those around her the true meaning of love, service, and living a life of faith. On July 14, 1962, Clifford and Margaret M. (Wachal) were united in marriage at St. Mary Church in Luxemburg. They were blessed with three children: Anita (Dave) Kinnard, Ron (Michele) Abts, Paul (fiancée Kelly Demers) Abts; seven grandchildren, Katie (Steven) Agamaite, Brian (Caitlin) Kinnard, Renee (Caleb) Lenss, Sarah (Nick) Caelwaerts, Annie (Austen) Dart, Derek Abts (Alexis Tingley), Ashley (fiancé Devin Czerneski) Abts; and thirteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Dorothy (Dennis) Thiry, one brother Leonard Wachal (Joann Romuald), sisters-in-law, Aggie (Donald) Pigeon, Agnes (Norris) Servais, Judy Kerscher, and Marlene Delwiche, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Matt and Marie Wachal, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Theodore and Mamie Abts Sr., family members, Mabel (Henry) Delwiche, Florence (Steven) Gadamus, Dorothy Abts, Lily (Martin) Heim, Robert (Florence) Abts, Russell Abts, Loretta (Vernon) Wautlet, Calvin (Joyce) Abts, Theodore Abts Jr., Milton Delwiche, and Gary Thiry. Family and friends may gather from 3:00 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1st, 2026, at St. Joseph Church, Champion. Closing parish prayer service at 6:30 p.m. with Deacon Robert Miller leading. Visitation will continue 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 2nd, 2026, at St. Joseph Church, Champion. Funeral on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Reverand Bill O’Brien officiating. Entombment in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum, Green Bay. McMahon Funeral Home, Luxemburg, is assisting the Abts Family.
