Mary Theresa Rohr

Mary Theresa Rohr, 85, of the Town of Jacksonport, fell asleep in the loving arms of her family and awoke in the arms of the Lord, Friday afternoon, June 26, 2026 at Woodside Lutheran Home in the Village of Ashwaubenon. She was born August 16, 1940 in Sturgeon Bay, the daughter of Elmer John Husby and Ellen Mary (Madden) Husby. Mary grew up attending Saints Peter and Paul Grade School and Parish in Institute where she received the sacraments of Baptism; First Communion; and Confirmation. She graduated from Sevastopol High School. Mary went on to study at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh where she earned her bachelor's degree. She enrolled in the master's program at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and graduated with a degree in social work. Mary met Ralland "Otto" Alvin Rohr at a wedding of mutual friends with Mary knowing the bride and Otto being friends with the groom. They were united in marriage on May 31, 1969 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Jacksonport. Together, Mary and Otto lived in Green Bay near Bay Beach. Mary initially worked for the Green Bay Press Gazette before serving Brown County as a social worker. They moved to Kewaunee, where they raised their sons: John and Jesse. Mary attended Holy Rosary Parish in Kewaunee with her family. She was a social worker in the Kewaunee School District (as part of a co-op between Luxemburg, Kewaunee, and Algoma) until her retirement. Mary and Otto moved back to Door County in 2000. Together, they resided on Bagnall Road in the Town of Jacksonport. Mary and Otto were parishioners at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Jacksonport (now Stella Maris Parish-Jacksonport site). She served her parish with a great and humble love as a member of the St. Michael's Altar Society. Mary and Otto were blessed to share over 59 years of marriage. He passed away on December 12, 2018. Mary had a passion for family genealogy. She was an eclectic reader with areas of interest including cultures (Irish and Norwegian especially), old westerns, and crime. Mary was an avid gardener. She and her brother, Pete, had a stand at the Farmer's Market in Sturgeon Bay for many years. Mary enjoyed tending to her flowers in her garden and also provided flowers for her church. She liked going to rummage sales and accumulated quite a few collections from over the years. Mary's love will live on in the hearts of her sons, John (Kristy) Rohr of the Town of Grand Chute and Jesse Rohr of the Town of Jacksonport; grandchildren, Emily and Zachary Rohr; sister, Catherine "Cathy" Gerdmann of the Town of Jacksonport; siblings-in-law, Mary Husby of Keshena, Kris (Ranni) Husby-Nelson of the Town of Jacksonport, Karen (John) Berner, Pete (Shelly) Rohr, and Gail (Larry) Ihlenfeldt, all of Kewaunee; many nieces and nephews; other relatives; and friends.
