David H. Chaudoir, Sr.

David H. Chaudoir Sr., 97, of Namur, passed away at home on August 3, 2026. He was born August 25, 1928, in Namur to Harry and Hazel (Englebert) Chaudoir Sr. On May 9, 1951, he married Angela Macco in Duvall. She preceded him in death on January 9 of 2025. David and Angela owned and operated a farm in Namur for many years; he also worked for the county highway department for 30 years, retiring in 1996. David truly appreciated the land and just being outdoors. He loved deer hunting and had his last hunt in 2024. David was very knowledgeable about his Belgian heritage. He enjoyed telling stories and was considered a “walking encyclopedia” of Belgian history. He made several videos and recordings for the Belgian Heritage Center of Door County and for public television. David was also a lifelong member of St. Mary of the Snow Catholic Church in Namur. He is survived by 3 children, David Jr. (Rose) Chaudoir, Dan (Carrie) Chaudoir, and Teri (Jim) Zellmer; 7 grandchildren, Lynn (Phil) Forbes, Todd (Michelle) Chaudoir, Gina Chaudoir, Joe (Carla) Zellmer, Jonathon (Kari Ann) Zellmer, and Andy and (Chelsea) Zellmer; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mary Ann (Jim) Jeanquart and Donna DeKeyser. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Angela, grandson Ryan and granddaughter Jessica; 2 brothers, Harry Jr. (Helen) Chaudoir and Remie Chaudoir; in-laws, Hillard DeKeyser, Gerald and Mary Jane Macco, and Anita and Melvin Lardinois. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dyckesville. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Church on Tuesday from 9:00 am until the time of service. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Rex Palaya.
