Sierra Marie Laxo, 33 of Sturgeon Bay passed away Monday evening, September 7, 2026 at Door County Medical Center. Sierra was born June 29, 1993 in Green Bay to Richard and Colleen (Fagan) Kinnard and graduated from Southern Door High School in 2011. On September 17, 2016, Sierra married Michael Laxo in Sturgeon Bay. Together they enjoyed cruising, shopping and taking long walks with Finland. Sierra was a beloved wife, daughter, sister, stepmom, aunt, and best friend. Family was everything to her, and the love she had for the people in her life was something you could feel. She was incredibly proud to be a stepmom. She loved her stepchildren as deeply as any mother could, and she was always proud of the people they were becoming. She supported them, believed in them, and was always there for them. Being their stepmom was one of the roles she treasured most. She had a heart that made room for everyone. She was the kind of person who would help someone without hesitation, give without expecting anything in return, and welcome people into her life with an open heart. For many years, Sierra courageously faced cancer. Through all the challenges and uncertainty, she continued to approach life with incredible positivity and strength. Her positive personality was contagious, and even during the hardest moments, she had a way of bringing light to the people around her. Her strength wasn't just in the way she fought her illness, but in the way she continued to love, laugh, give, and live. And then there was Finland-Fin-her beloved dog and, in so many ways, her child. Fin was her constant companion and brought her comfort, happiness, and unconditional love. Their bond was incredibly special, and he was never far from her side. Those who knew Sierra will remember her for her kindness, generosity, beautiful spirit, and the way she made people feel loved and accepted. She loved her family more than anything and would do whatever she could for the people she loved. She gave of herself freely and never seemed to hesitate when someone needed her. Though her life was far too short, the love she gave so freely will continue to live on in everyone she touched. She was loved deeply, gave freely, lived with hope, and left the world a little brighter simply by being in it. Sierra will be deeply missed by her husband of almost 10 years, Michael; stepchildren, Ariel, Angelica, and Michael "Mickey"; her parents, Richard and Colleen; her sisters, Shannon (AJ) Vertz, and Sammie (Ryan) Fredericks; her nieces and nephews, Tyler Vertz, Sophie Vertz, Deagan Fredericks, and Deveri Fredericks; and her mother-in-law, Debbie LaForge Pagel and Dale Pagel.
