David A. Bathke, 82, Algoma, passed away unexpectedly at home on September 27, 2026. He was born June 26, 1944, in Algoma to Peter and Ruby (Meverden) Bathke. David graduated from Algoma High School in 1962. David ended up going up to Ketchikan, Alaska where he got his training to be a maintenance mechanic. He met and married Marsha Finnerty in the state of Washington on November 9, 1963. They shared 63 years of marriage. After seven years in Alaska, they moved to Enumclaw, WA, where David worked as a maintenance mechanic at the Jorgensen Steel Mill. He was hurt on the job, so he ended up leaving and they moved to Algoma where they lived for half the year and Sun City West, AZ for the other half of the year. David is survived by his wife, Marsha, son David (Tina Webb) Bathke, three sisters Shirley Haack, Cheryl (Mark) Rankin and Grace (Wayne) Keach, nieces an nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Robert and his father and mother-in-law. A Celebration of Life will be held, Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the Schinderle Funeral Home, Algoma, from 9:00 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM with Father Rob Hoppe officiating.
