Southern Door School District has gotten a head start on some of the referendum projects, but they will officially mark the occasion on June 28th with a groundbreaking ceremony.
While the referendum will also cover replacing an aging septic system, relocating the district office, adding more parking, constructing a new bus garage, and more improvements, the biggest change to the Brussels skyline will be a new indoor athletic-training facility. In addition to the turf gym, the new facility will also house the improved Talon Fitness Center, which will make the move from its current location so the district office can take over the space.
The groundbreaking ceremony will take place in front of the old District office, which is south of the main circle parking lot on the school’s campus, located at 2073 County Hwy. DK in Brussels. Construction is expected to be completed in the fall of 2024 with Miron Construction Co., Inc. serving as the construction manager and Bray Architects serving as the architect.
