Some wrestlers will get a couple of extra pounds of breathing room during the 2023-2024 campaign.

The WIAA announced during its recent Board of Control meeting that there will be new weight classes for the upcoming year. The changes happen primarily in the middle to upper weight classes with the new weights including 144, 150, 157, 165, 175, 190, and 215. The sectional tournament will also award seven more medals than they did the previous year from 21 to 28.
