Egg Harbor pulls away late against Baileys Harbor on 105.1 the GOAT

The Egg Harbor Indians put up crooked numbers in three of the final four innings to beat the Baileys Harbor A's 11-4 on the road Friday night.

The two teams went back and forth the first half of the game as the A's struck first on an RBI double by Gavin Blink in the second inning and the Indians scored twice without Joe Sawyer having to leave the batters' box in the third inning to give them a 2-1 lead.

After a bases-loaded walk gave the Indians a 3-1 lead in the top of the fifth, the A's retook the lead in the bottom half thanks to a RBI single by Matt Francesconi and a two-run single by Aaron Brey made it 4-3. The Indians retook the lead and never gave it up again after Jace Johnson walked in the game-tying and what proved to be the game-winner in the sixth inning.

The Indians nearly batted around again in the seventh inning as they took advantage of A's mistakes to plate another three runs. Meanwhile, the pitching combination of Alex Byrne and Riley Spetz kept the A's at bay for the rest of the game after Joe Sawyer's exit in the fifth inning, allowing no hits and just one baserunner across the final three-plus innings. Nick Kita showed why he is one of the league's best hitters when he capped off the scoring with a two-run homer a few batters after his brother Brady scored on a wild pitch.

The Indians earned an important to stay in the thick of the playoff race with the victory while the A's continue to weather injuries while staying just above Institute in the standings.

NEW Radio Sports Network and 105.1 the GOAT hit the road again on Sunday when West Jacksonport visits Sister Bay. Other Door County Baseball League game scheduled for the holiday weekend include Kolberg hosting Maplewood and Institute traveling to Washington Island.
