The Milwaukee Brewers took advantage of a strong pitching performance from Colin Rea and came away with a 6-3 win over the Pittsburg Pirates to take the three-game series on Sunday.
Pittsburg jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning on a two-run home run by Nick Gonzales, but Rea (5-4) would settle down and pitch 6.2 innings and allowing only the two runs on five hits.
William Contreras hit a monster homer in the third inning with two runners on to give Milwaukee a 3-2 lead that they would not relinquish.
The Brewers added a few more runs with the help of a couple Pittsburg errors to pad the lead late and Devin Williams pitched a perfect ninth inning to come away with his 17th save of the season. Williams was selected as a pitcher for the Major League All-Star game that will be played next Tuesday in Seattle.
