Brewers fall late to Cubs

Closer Devin Williams had a rare off night as the Chicago Cubs rallied with three runs in the top of the ninth winning to steal the game from the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3 Wednesday night.

Both teams scored in the third inning with Ian Happ for the Cubs and William Contreas for the Brewers each singling in a run. A Wily Adames solo shot and RBI single by Brian Anderson gave the Brewers what seemed to be an insurmountable 3-1 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Cubs would piece together a rally in the top of the ninth against Williams with Mike Tauchman clearing the bases with a double to tie the game and eventually scoring on an errant throw. Adbert Azolay retired the Brewers in order in the bottom of the ninth to secure the Cubs' second win of the series ahead of the finale in Milwaukee on Thursday at 1:10 p.m.
