The Maplewood Mets are looking to build on their win over Institute Cubs last week when they see Washington Island ferry down Sunday afternoon.
The Mets blanked the Cubs in Week 9 to move to 3-6 overall behind a dominant pitching peformance from Jeremiah Janke, who went the full nine innings to record a rare complete game shutout. Janke being as shutdown as he was, gives the Mets two strong pitching options in Jaden Diller and Janke. Maplewood will need those pitchers to be strong Sunday afternoon after Washington Island routed the Mets 20-6 in the first half.
Washington Island was shockingly shut down by the Sister Bay Bays last Sunday on the Island, falling to the Bays 9-1. The Islanders will have a lot to play for, including improving themselves in the DCBL Standings, where they currently sit tied with Egg Harbor for third.
Gary Barta and Reece Robillard will have the call from Maplewood on 105.1 The GOAT and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com beginning at 1:15 p.m. and first pitch set for 1:30 p.m between the Islanders and the Mets.
Other games around the DCBL include Sister Bay hosting Kolberg in a potential standing defying matchup, and West Jacksonport heading west to face Egg Harbor.
