Mets washout Cubs on 104.1 WRLU

Mother Nature forced to end the game after six innings of play, but it was the Maplewood Mets that forced their hand in a 6-0 win over the host Institute Cubs on a soggy Friday night.

The Mets wasted no time to get on the scoreboard with Adam Gutschow knocking in a run in the first inning to make it 1-0. The Mets would put the game out of reach in the third inning with Jayden Diller, Gutschow, and Zach Marchant all scoring. The Mets tacked on two more in the fourth inning with Jeremiah Janke scoring on a sacrifice fly and Drew Price taking home on a passed ball.

Janke did his part to keep the Cubs off the basepaths, allowing no runs on three hits and two walks. He struck out 11 in the process.

The umpire sent both teams into their respective dugouts shortly after Kordell Draves stepped into the box. The game was delayed only briefly before the umpires inspected the field and made the decision with the teams' managers to call it after six innings.

Sunday's games include Sister Bay at Egg Harbor (airing on 105.1 The GOAT), Washington Island visiting Kolberg, and Baileys Harbor hosting West Jacksonport.
