It was a game where Sister Bay could not get much going on offense, and Egg Harbor got just enough as the Indians defeated the Bays 2-1 on 105.1 The GOAT and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com.
Joe Sawyer dominated the entire game, with just one inning where he allowed a run to come across. Sister Bay only had a handful of true threats throughout the game, but they were nullified relatively quickly. Sawyer finished with a complete game while only allowing six hits through his nine innings.
Egg Harbor started their scoring in the bottom of the first inning as Nick Posh fulfilled his designated hitter duties by singling into center field, bringing home Cody Giesseman to make the game 1-0 in favor of the Indians. Egg Harbor would give themselves more of a cushion in the third inning as Cory Fuller hit a fly ball into center field when Spencer Krause and Alex Laughlin miscommunicated and ran into each other, bringing Cole Krause home to score.
In the third, the final run of the game would be scored as Stew Larsen hit a sacrifice fly to bring home Sam Lindenberg, who was 3 for 4 on the day and scored Sister Bay’s only run. Sam Forkert went all eight innings for the Bays, giving up nine hits and striking out five.
Joe Sawyer of Egg Harbor was helped out by his defense however, as Cory Fuller made a fantastic play at shortstop during the seventh inning to rob Stew Larsen of a hit with the bases loaded. The Bays fall to 10-2 while Egg Harbor jumps to 7-5.
