Swimming, Tennis, Eight-Player Football begin Tuesday

The biggest wave of athletes to start their fall seasons thus far begin their journey on Tuesday.

The wait is over for the area's three Eight-Player football teams as Tuesday marks the first day of practice. Algoma, Gibraltar, and Sevastopol will all lace up for the first time on Tuesday with their first games coming up in just under three weeks. The three teams will come together in Institute for a day of scrimmages on August 18th before opening the season the following week. Sevastopol will open the year on August 24th at home against Valley Christian with Gibraltar following suit two days later in Fish Creek against Montello. Algoma will start their campaign on August 31st at Wausaukee.

The Kewaunee tennis team is a week away from their first meet of the season, but begin their work on Tuesday with their opening practice. The Kewaunee girls' tennis team hosted a pair of tennis clinics for new and returning players on July 26th and August 3rd to get them primed for the season. The Storm begins their campaign next Tuesday at Plymouth before hosting Waupun on August 17th.

The Door County United swim team hit the pool for the first time on Tuesday. The team will once again feature swimmers from Door County's four high schools as they look to duplicate last season's success. The season features five home meets, which will take place at the Door County YMCA in Sturgeon Bay. The team will have its first meet on August 19th at Marinette against Wittenberg-Birnamwood, Shawano Community, Seymour, New London, and Clintonville with the first events beginning at 9 a.m.
