Rockers go for subdivision championship vs. Mallards after Sunday win

The Green Bay Rockers are a game away from clinching a spot in the division championship after beating the Madison Mallards at The Duck Pond Sunday evening 8-4.

The Mallards put pressure on the Rockers early with two runs in the first inning, but the Rockers responded with eight unanswered runs. A wild pitch and a double by JoJo Jackson tied the game at two while the Rockers took the lead in a three-run sixth inning that featured RBI singles by Sam Polk and Kendal Ewell. In the eighth inning, Ewell would extend the lead with another RBI single before a passed ball scored another run to put the game out of reach. The Mallards would score twice after the Rockers added their eighth run in the top of the ninth, but the damage was done as the Rockers secured their first playoff win in eight years.

The venue changes to Capital Credit Union Park Monday night as the Rockers host the Mallards at 6:35 p.m.
