Bays power past Indians on 105.1 The Goat, face Islanders for DCBL Title

The regular season league champion Sister Bay Bays powered past the Egg Harbor Indians 10-2 Sunday afternoon at home to advance to the Door County Baseball League championship game next week.

Pitcher-of-the-Year Sam Forkert went eight strong innings to pick up the win allowing just two runs on five hits while striking out seven.

Egg Harbor scored first with an RBI single by Nick Posh in the top of the first inning, but the Bays would score the next eight runs starting with a crushing home run by Griffin Cole in the second inning.

Sister Bay scored three runs in the third inning on an RBI double by Stew Larsen, an RBI single by Spencer Krause, and a RBI single by Cole.  Then scoring two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings helped the Bays take a commanding lead the Indians could not overcome.

Larsen was 3 for 3 with three RBIs including two doubles while Cole finished 2 for 4 and two RBIs and the only home run of the game.

Indian starting pitcher Joe Sawyer took the loss going 4.1 innings and allowing seven runs.

The Bays will now face the Washington Island Islanders next Sunday in Sister Bay for the Door County Baseball League Championship as the Islanders came back to beat the Kohlberg Braves on the road 7-6 in the other playoff game.

That game can be heard on 105.1 The Goat or streamed on the New Radio Sports Network next Sunday with the pregame starting at 1:15 p.m. and first pitch at 1:30 p.m.
