Brewers sweep Rangers to end road trip

The Milwaukee Brewers ended a successful roller coaster of a road trip with a 6-2 victory over the Texas Rangers Sunday.

After sweeping the Chicago White Sox and being swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Brewers are coming home after a 6-3 road trip with their three-game sweep of the Rangers.

Sunday’s game saw Brewer starter Adrian Howser pitch five innings of effective ball by only allowing only one run on seven hits while striking out seven.

The offense was led by Christian Yelich and Tyrone Taylor who had two hits each.  Taylor had a double and triple while scoring three runs and knocking in two.

Milwaukee scored three runs in the eighth inning to take a 6-1 lead, but needed to bring in closer Devon Williams to get the last out for his 30th save of the season after the Rangers put the potential tying run on the on-deck circle in the ninth.

The Brewers (68-57), who hold a three game lead over the Chicago Cubs in the National League Central, will get Monday off before welcoming the Minnesota Twins in for a short two-game series on Tuesday.
