Sister Bay, Washington Island battle for DCBL crown on 105.1 The GOAT

A battle between two Northern Door County teams will decide who wins the Door County League Playoff Championship Sunday afternoon when Sister Bay faces Washington Island at home.

The Bays punched their ticket with a convincing 10-2 win over Egg Harbor last Sunday as heard on 105.1 The GOAT. Sam Forkert went eight strong innings while Stewart Larsen was 3 for 3 with three RBIs including two doubles while Cole finished 2 for 4 and two RBIs and the only home run of the game. The Bays last played in the DCL Playoff Championship in 2021 when they lost to Kolberg. They hope to match the Braves by becoming the second straight team to win both the regular season and the playoff titles.

The Islanders earned their spot in their second straight DCL Playoff Championship game in a similar fashion to last year's run: drama. They avenged last year's championship game loss to the Braves by rallying from two down twice to win 7-6 this year. Ben Geiger delivered what proved to be the game-winning three-run homer to send the Islanders back to the championship game.

Since the Islanders beat the Bays in last year's semifinal, Sister Bay has won two straight matchups against Washington Island. That includes a walk-off balk on May 21st in Sister Bay and a dominant victory on Washington Island on July 9th.

Tim Kowols and Reece Robillard will have the call from the Sister Bay Sports Complex on Sunday beginning at 1:15 p.m. with the pregame show followed by the first pitch at 1:30 p.m.
