The Luxemburg-Casco volleyball can finish off their holiday weekend on a high note with a second place finish at the Tom Larsen Triton Invite on Saturday.
The Spartans ran the table in pool play, defeating West DePere 2-0, DePere 2-0, and Slinger 2-0. In the semifinals, they topped host Notre Dame 2-1 before losing to NEC foe Xavier 2-0 in the title game.
Leading the way for the Spartans was Alayna Deprez (44 assists, 27 digs, 7 aces), Erin Cherovsky (38 assists, 6 aces), Aubrey Frey (27 kills, 31 digs, 5 aces), Miranda Schmidt (19 kills, 9 blocks), and Payton Kaminski (33 digs, 5 aces).
Head coach Jeff Frey was complimentary of his team post-tournament, saying that it was a good day with good wins. "These preseason tournaments are so important because they give you a chance to play good competition and see the areas that we need to grow in."
