Volleyball yields mixed results for local teams; L-C, Sturgeon Bay head south for weekend invite

There's plenty of volleyball to be had still this week despite a nearly full slate of action on Thursday.

 

The Algoma Wolves were able to rebound from a dropped third set to capture the match from Oconto 3-1 (25-17, 14-25, 25-18, 25-19) in front of its home crowd.

 

The Gibraltar Vikings were stymied by NEW Lutheran Thursday night as they were swept 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-18).

 

The Luxemburg-Casco volleyball team easily toppled the Marinette Marines on the road Thursday night 3-0 (25-9, 25-13, 25-9).

 

Sevastopol's volleyball team got their season off to a strong start with a win over county rival Southern Door.

 

No score was reported from Sturgeon Bay's match against Peshtigo.

 

The Clippers and Spartans now head to Wales to play in a tournament hosted by Kettle Moraine and Brookfield Central high schools. Appleton East, Barneveld, Brookfield Central, Cedarburg, Dominican, Eau Claire Memorial High School, Fox Valley Lutheran, Holmen, Homestead, Hortonville, Kettle Moraine, Kewaunee High School, Marshall, Muskego, Neenah, Newman Catholic, Nicolet, Oak Creek, Onalaska, Racine Case, Racine Lutheran, Sun Prairie West, The Prairie, Wauwatosa East, and Westosha Central are also scheduled to compete when the tournament begins at 4 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday.
