Area qualifies four runners to state meet

Four local runners will make their way to the WIAA State Cross Country Meet in Wisconsin Rapids.

 

In New London, Kyan Lynts of Luxemburg-Casco ran a time of 16:46.2 to lead all local runners with a fifth-place finish. His teammate on the girls' side, Claire DuChateau, ran a time of 19:31.3 to finish in the top 10 and clinch her own spot in the state meet. Sturgeon Bay competed in the meet, with Julia Kurek and Luke Selle leading their respective squads.

 

In Manitowoc, Southern Door's Ben Grota took third place overall at 16:46 to punch his ticket to the state meet. On the girls' side, Kewaunee sophomore sensation Hannah Miller qualified for the state meet with a second-place finish and 19:24. Algoma, Gibraltar, and Sevastopol competed at the sectional.

 

Below are the times to know for next weekend's state cross country meet at  Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids:

 

Boys' Competition
Noon - Division 3 
12:35 p.m. - Division 2
 

Girls' Competition

1:45 p.m. - Division 3 
2:25 p.m. - Division 2
