Four local runners are preparing to run at the WIAA State Cross Country Championships at The Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids.
In Division 2, Kyan Lynts of Luxemburg-Casco ran a time of 16:46.2 to lead all local runners with a fifth-place finish in the New London Sectional to earn his spot. His teammate on the girls' side, Claire DuChateau, ran a time of 19:31.3 to finish in the top 10 and clinch her own spot in the state meet. Lynts will run at 12:35 p.m., while DuChateau will compete at 2:25 p.m.
In Division 3, Southern Door's Ben Grota took third place overall at the Manitowoc Lutheran Sectional with a time of 16:46 to punch his ticket to the state meet. Kewaunee sophomore sensation Hannah Miller qualified for the state meet with a second-place finish and a 5K time of 19:24. Grota will run at noon and Miller will start at 1:45 p.m.
