Kewaunee's Hannah Miller, Southern Door's Ben Grota, and Luxemburg-Casco's Kyan Lynts and Claire DuChateau ran in their final races of the season on Saturday at the WIAA State Cross Country Meet in Wisconsin Rapids.
Miller finished the Division 3 Girls Race in 17th place with a time of 19:55 in the 5K race. She tried keeping up with the pack in a speedy first mile, covering the distance in a time of 6:02. Miller averaged 6:26 per mile. Autumn Michalski of Chequamegon won the race in a time of 18:02.
Grota covered the course in the Division 3 Boys Race in a time of 17:27, averaging 5:38 per mile to come in 46th place overall. Iola-Scandinavia's Charlie Vater won the meet with a time of 15:49, building a lead early as the only runner to break five minutes in the race's opening mile.
In the Division 2 Boys Race, Lynts ran a time of 17:16, which was good for 53rd place overall. Edgewood's Noah Kuhn won the race with a time of 15:50, setting the tone early with a 4:51 opening mile, one of 12 to break five minutes in the first stretch of the race.
In the Division 2 Race, DuChateau broke the top 40 with a time of 20:04 and a 38th-place finish. Northland Pines' Nora Gremban won the race in a time of 17:46.
