The 2023-24 version of the Wisconsin Badgers will play their first game of the season Wednesday night at home. In an exhibition game, the Badgers will face in-state UW-Steven Point from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Association. The tradition of playing Division 2 state schools started 18 years ago and includes head coach Greg Gard’s alma mater UW-Platteville.
Wisconsin returns starting guards Max Klesmit and Chucky Hepburn this year and looks to contend in the Big Ten Conference title race. The Badgers lost in the NIT semi-finals last year and failed to reach the NCAA tournament for only the second time since 1998.
Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at the Kohl Center in Madison.
