Former Wisconsin Badgers basketball standout Kirk Penney has returned to the program this week as Special Assistant to the Head Coach. Greg Gard made the announcement Monday that Penney, an All-Big Ten performer during his playing days with the Badgers from 1999-2003, would join his coaching staff on the bench for this season.
Penney played briefly in the NBA with the Miami Heat and the Los Angeles Clippers in 2003 and 2005, respectively. He also played for New Zealand in two Olympics in 2000 and 2004.
The Badgers play next on Friday as they welcome in the Tennessee Volunteers to the Kohl Center at 8 p.m.
