Gamblers host Stars for weekend set

The Green Bay Gamblers return to action Friday and Saturday night with games against the Lincoln Stars at the Resch Center.

Hockey fans in the Chicagoland area were treated to exciting games and maybe a few heart attacks last weekend as the Green Bay Gamblers and the Chicago Steel had to go into overtime for both of their matchups. On Friday, Mikey DeAngelo provided the difference in a 5-4 Gamblers win that stretched eight rounds in the shootout. Chris Romaine had two assists, and Geno Carcone had two goals in the win. The Gamblers were not as lucky on the getaway day as they forced the extra frame but lost 1-0 in overtime on Saturday. Anthony Cardilli scored the game-winning goal for the Steel.

The Stars dropped two games to two different teams on consecutive days last weekend, losing to Sioux Falls 3-2 and Cedar Rapids 4-1. They sit in seventh place in the Western Conference with eight points.

Friday's game will feature a 7:05 puck drop, while Saturday's matchup will occur at 6:05 p.m.
