The opening week of the girls' basketball season ends with just one game a ferry ride away after games were played Friday night.

For the second straight year, the Gibraltar Vikings girls' basketball team lost to Gillett Tigers by the slimmest of margins, this time 43-40 on the road Friday night.

Washington Island was scheduled to play Green Bay West in a Friday night/Saturday morning doubleheader. They are supposed to play again Saturday at 9 a.m.
