Hot shooting leads Phoenix men past Panthers

The Green Bay Phoenix shot 46 percent from behind the arc as they beat their in-state rivals UW-Milwaukee 70-58 Saturday night at the Resch Center.

Their hot start was aided by nine three-pointers in the first half, some of which aided an 11-0 run at the end of the first half to give the Phoenix a 39-25 lead at the break. The Panthers would get it to six points a few times during the second half, only to have the Phoenix extend it back out thanks to smaller runs.

Noah Reynolds paced the Phoenix with 17 points and eight assists. Preston Ruedinger and Foster Wonders each had 12 points while Rich Bhyre registered 10 points. The Panthers got 25 points from Markeith Browning II in the loss.

The Phoenix will travel to Southern Illinois-Edwardsville on Wednesday before taking on Western Illinois at home on Saturday.
