Clippers girls grind out win over Truckers

The Sturgeon Bay girls' basketball team emerged victorious Friday night with a 31-29 win over Clintonville.

The game was tied 15-15 at the break and the Clippers were given an extra dose of motivation before the start of the second half when it was learned that senior Tori Alger suffered a knee injury and would not return.

Dasha Yeltysheva made sure it was not in vain, scoring more than half of her 15 points in the second half to pace the Clippers to victory. Regan Kasten complemented her with 11 points. Natalie Sunita was the only offensive threat for the Truckers as she poured in a game-high 16 points.

Head coach Dan Tjernagel said postgame that he is unsure of Alger's status moving forward but he knows the team wanted to make sure they returned home with a victory for her. He also expressed how proud he was of his team as this was their third game in five nights and subsequently, their third win in eight tries.
